Sewing has been Gay’s life long passion. She inherited her passion for textiles, fabrics and fashion from her artistic and fashionable mother. Gay studied Art History and French at university, travelling extensively in France, Britain and Italy. She eventually settled in Britain and while raising three children, learned a “make do and mend” resourcefulness and indulged in her passion for vintage textiles and fashion.
Gay trained as a Design & Technology teacher in Britain in ’96, which led to teaching Art History and Textiles/Fashion. Teaching and studying fashion, fibres, garment construction, and textiles has provided her a unique and eclectic vision. After owning/operating a small fabric boutique outside Boston and living/exploring in Paris, Gay has now moved to West London and opened a new boutique for fashion fabric, loving the fabric, on the Hill in Richmond.
