Lisa Marie Olson is a wife and a mother and is never happier than when spending time with loved ones. Lisa Marie loves to sew, create and make with textiles and papercrafts and graphically illustrates many of her designs.
She is the Creative Director and designer of Tigerlily Makes, Fairyland and Storyland from the heart of her home studio in the Midlands.
‘As Seen on TV’, ‘Award Winning’ and voted ‘Best of British’ are just a few of the highlights of Lisa Marie’s creative life. Her love affair with the creative arts started at school with needlework and textile arts. She quickly realised that she had a natural flair and an ability to create wonderful things with threads, fabric, ribbons, buttons and left-over bits and bobs. After a short time, Lisa Marie began making things for family and friends; she customised bags and added finishing touches to a room – such as roman blinds and unique accessories.
Her interest in creative pastimes continued into adulthood, where Lisa Marie was able to save money by making and customising not only her wardrobe, but her home too. For the past 35 years she has continued to develop her skills in all areas of creativity, from making decorative bespoke items for the home to up-cycling, paper crafting and felt-making.
Many of Lisa Marie’s designs are created and inspired by an enormous love of classic fairy tales and stories – everything from The Grimm Brothers to Dickens. She is particularly passionate about Alice in Wonderland, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Hobbit – the characters and the adventures they enjoyed sparked her interest from a very early age. It is those very characters that have inspired Lisa Marie’s unique Lily the Lamb, Alice by Lily, Fairyland, and Storyland ranges, and of course her Tigerlily Makes range, which is where all of her designs started.
Lisa Marie has spent over two years developing her Felt Fairy Elf range introducing the Elvia Fairy Elf Clan – with more designs to follow. Her first book Felt Wonderland is inspired by all things storyland with a slight nod to all things Alice in Wonderland, and she will be creating a whole new range of Felt Storyland designs.
She is a member of AFCI (Association for Creative Industries) and can highly recommend becoming a member as it’s a great place to connect with like minded people within the industry and industry specialists.
Lisa Marie has also designed surface patterns for print, created a range of graphic illustrations, demonstrated and run workshops all around the country and is considers herself an experienced seamstress, both in hand and machine sewing. So why not join her on a magical adventure into Wonderland!
