Michelle Orme established The Vegan Cakery as a true cottage industry in June 2012 with a dual purpose – to provide the ultimate in cruelty-free cakes, pastries and associated treats while also raising as much money as possible for animal sanctuaries and charities.

Within the first year of business, the ‘Cakery was named ‘Best Vegan Company’ at the 2013 UK Vegan Awards and has since scooped the ‘Best Vegan Bakery’ accolade at the 2015 Vegfest UK Awards and the ‘Best Vegan Cakes’ title at the 2015 staging of the UK Vegan Awards.

As an ethical vegan, Michelle – who runs The Vegan Cakery single-handedly from her home in rural Leicestershire – is passionate about animal welfare and foregoes taking a wage from the business in order to donate as much as she possibly can to needy causes.
